Leisure
Systems, Inc Adds Two New Jellystone Parks
New
Camp-Resorts come to Central Pennsylvania and Northern California
May
2006 — Yogi Bear, one of the world's most famous
and beloved cartoon characters has come to Milton, Pennsylvania
and Cobb, California to share his special
brand of family fun and camping adventures. Leisure Systems, Inc.
( LSI ), franchiser of 70 Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts in the United
States and Canada, has added two new parks to its national roster.
“We
are proud to add these particular facilities to our North American
Jellystone Park system,” said Rob Schutter, Leisure Systems President
and COO. “Both Yogi at Shangri La and Yogi Bear's Jellystone
Park at Cobb Mountain are ideal locations for a quality camping
resort and will reflect the values of Jellystone Parks.”
Milton
, Pennsylvania
The
new Yogi at Shangri La Camp-Resort is nestled on Hidden Paradise
Road at the foot of Montour Ridge along the Chillisquaque Creek
in Central Pennsylvania . Formerly operated as Shangri La on the
Creek, the world-class facility made the transition to a Jellystone
Park this year and is now known as Yogi at Shangri La.
Yogi
at Shangri La is owned by Bryant Management and managed by Jim and
Betsy Laughner, veterans of the Shangri La property. Bryant Management
owns and operates Legacy RV Resorts with 10 locations in the United
States. Two other Jellystone Parks – Cherokee, NC and Waller, TX
– are part of the Legacy RV group. “We decided to convert this location
to a Jellystone Park because of the unique family-friendly environment
Jellystone provides. In addition, Leisure Systems has been very
helpful in offering a smooth, hassle free transition,” stated Bruce
Bryant, owner of Bryant Management.
Boasting
a full range of accommodations - from upscale RV facilities to scenic
tent sites to rental cabins with all the comforts of home - Yogi
at Shangri La is the perfect destination for all campers. Anglers
will delight in the two catch-and-release stocked ponds while the
kiddies can make a splash in the wading pool or the swimming pools.
Grab a bite at the poolside café or the fully-stocked snack
bar. Enjoy the local scenery by taking a nature trail hike or meet
some of your fellow campers by joining a game of bingo, taking a
hayride or visiting the arts and crafts area.
Many
amenities are being added to the Camp-Resort including a three-story
playground designed especially for little “cubs” looking for a good
time. Active little ones can jump for joy on the trampoline, climb
the rock wall or zip down the chutes.
Cobb
, California
Yogi
Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Cobb Mountain in beautiful
Northern California boasts loads of family fun on the West Coast.
Formerly operated as Beaver Creek Campground, owner Brian Barnhart
bought the property from his father and has already made over $400,000
in renovations. With 107 spacious full-hookup sites available year-round,
cabins, fully furnished two-bedroom A frames with loft, furnished
creekside cabin and tent rentals, it's the perfect getaway for any
group. Jellystone Park at Cobb Mountain features a swimming
pool, new playground, kayak and paddle boat rentals (open May-October),
planned summer activities and outdoor movies, a softball and soccer
field, horseshoes, pedal cart rentals, Cobb Mountain Mining Company
and year-round trout fishing. WiFi Internet access is available
at all sites. Coming soon: a new camp store, restaurant and 18-hole
miniature golf course.
Since
introducing the campground as a Jellystone Park , various groups
have expressed interest in holding functions there. According to
Barnhart, the Lake County Repertory Theater wants to make the park
its permanent home and the park will host a charity jazz concert
on July 15. Other events will include birthday parties, chili cook-offs,
art exhibits, and comedy nights.
As
the first Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in California , Cobb Mountain
will celebrate its grand opening during Memorial Day Weekend.
Mark your calendar for a ribbon cutting and unveiling of this latest
park. Family activities, raffles and visits from Yogi Bear,
Cindy Bear, Boo Boo and Ranger Smith will make for an unforgettable
trip.
