Jellystone Park in Amboy Wins Award for Excellence in Camping Industry

Amboy, IL (March, 2007) - Kelly Jones, general manager of O'Connell's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Amboy, has been recognized as "Operator of the Year" by the Jellystone Park franchise system. Jones has been involved with the park since 1976 and has been serving as general manager for the past four years.

The Operator of the Year Award is given to the Camp-Resort that demonstrates the strongest overall business system among 70 Jellystone Parks in the United States and Canada. Evaluation criteria include customer service, inspection ratings, daily management and business growth. The award was presented at the annual meeting of the Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort group in Cincinnati, Ohio .

"It's so rewarding to be recognized for doing what I love - meeting new people and helping them make great vacation memories, all while working in a clean, safe and natural environment," said Jones.

The park received a score of 99 out of a possible 100 on its inspection, which is based on numerous items such as proper Yogi Bear theming, clean restrooms, well-manicured and landscaped property, well-maintained campsites and cabins, the variety of recreational activities and the overall appearance of the Camp-Resort.

The Camp-Resort's accommodations range from primitive sites to full hook-ups, cabins and cottages. It provides the perfect family getaway with amenities such as a double-flume waterslide, several pools and spas, four playgrounds, paddle boats, kayaks, mini golf, fun zone, camp store and a weekly recreation schedule during peak season.

This year, the park will celebrate its Anniversary Weekend May 4 - 6, offering campsite rentals for just $30 for the whole weekend. And from July 6 - 31, Club Yogi members will enjoy 50 percent savings midweek on campsites and 10 percent midweek on rentals.

O'Connell's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort's opens for the 2007 season in mid-April.
