Jellystone Park in Tabor City is Camp-Resort of the Year
Tabor City, NC (March 2, 2009) – Rick Coleman and Joey Coleman, owners of the Tabor City Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, have been recognized with the Camp-Resort of the Year award by the Jellystone Park franchise system. The award was presented at the annual meeting of the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort group in Cincinnati, Ohio.
When the campground opened as Daddy Joe’s in 2001 on a former tobacco farm, locals said it would never survive the competition from nearby Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, NC. The Coleman brothers proved them wrong. After joining the Jellystone Park franchise in 2003, the team expanded their amenities and family-friendly offerings to create what they call a mini state park.
“Becoming a member of the Yogi Bear franchise system has been the best business decision we have made to date,” said Rick and Joey Coleman. “Family-oriented camping is what we are about. Yogi Bear Jellystone Camp-Resorts are both affordable and loaded with amenities that are geared to family fun.”
All buildings feature natural log cabin finishes and unique “buddy system”-style RV campsites include four sites in a square formation around one shared courtyard. Other popular rentals at the Camp-Resort include private cabins, yurts and waterfront sites.
The Camp-Resort’s 350 acres includes stocked fishing ponds; miles of trails visitors can explore on foot, bike or golf cart; water activities such as pools, a triple water slide, a splash zone and Water Wars; gem mining; and the Locomotion Truck adventure ride that takes campers through swampland, tough terrain and mud.
The Camp-Resort also won the Carroll Award for receiving the highest inspection rates among all Jellystone Parks. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Tabor City is open year-round, with programming starting in April.
